What this blog is about…Updated December 2013, March 2014, August 2014, January 2016, October 2017 and March 2018

1. We've spent time in various parts of the USA over the last 45 years, but mostly on the east or west coasts. This October we'll be visiting Utah and Arizona for the first time, finishing up at Grand Canyon. At last! It's been on our do to list for a long time! In 2013 we'll be spending 6 months in College Station, Texas - three months in the spring and another three months in the autumn - where Peter will be a visiting professor and I will be...well I'm not sure at the moment what I'll be doing so it's going to be a process of discovery. We're going to miss our family and friends, so we hope this will be a way of keeping in touch. We can't promise a great literary experience for the reader, but we'll post lots of pictures and let you know what we're up to!

2. Well, it turned out to be 9 months in College Station.  Three months in the spring of 2013, about 3 months in the autumn and 10 weeks in spring 2014.  Gap one in the summer was to get us out of the extreme heat of Texas and we went back to one of the best UK summers for a long time.  The second gap is for Christmas in Norwich and London and a catch up with friends and family.

And the blog has morphed into a rambling, inconsequential diary as anyone reading it will have noticed!  

 3.  March 2014: And now the 9 months has come to an end but there seems to be no reason to stop rambling, so I will continue.  Perhaps friends in the US will be interested in life in Norwich...we shall see!

4. August 2014: Just when we thought we had settled back into life at home in Norwich we are off again in October to Paris, France (as they say in the US!).   Just for 6 months this time.  Very exciting.  Haven't been to Paris in a long while.  Expect a flurry of blogs as we settle down to another different kind of life! 

5.  January 2015:  Here we go again!   We have sold our London flat and bought a house in Southwold on the Suffolk coast.  It will be a family holiday home and we hope to divide our time between Southwold and Noriwch.   But it's early days.   We've just started moving our furniture in and will be documenting our renovation of the house and garden.  

6. March 2018:  We're still dividing our time between Southwold and Norwich and this blog is now a random diary of events, big and small.
