Almost back to normal

We've had a very pleasant homecoming.  A friend popped round on the day we got back, just as we had finished unpacking the groceries.  She brought us a bunch of flowers with a beautiful scent and stayed to chat awhile.

By the way, there's something we do better in the UK on the shopping front.  Before we left Texas I went online
and selected my grocery shopping and the delivery time.  It all arrived at my door in time for lunch on the first day back.

Then in the evening we managed to stay awake and enjoyed supper with friends who are very good cooks! A delicious meal of fish cakes, sorrel sauce, asparagus and new potatoes followed by home made raisin ice cream and strawberries.  We caught up on news and on the following morning went round for coffee with the other friends who were at supper and saw and admired the progress on their new garden.

Later on Sunday we walked into the city  (another  big difference - no car needed to reach a wide range of shops and an open fruit and vegetable market with butchers and fishmongers) and ordered a new bed frame for the back bedroom.

Monday was a day for gardening and digging out some rampant plants - and weeds.  The front garden is half finished and I can't decide whether to do more this afternoon or tackle the pile of ironing!

Instead I've invested 15 minutes in scrubbing down the garden seat which the birds had been using as a convenient perch.  The sun is shining, it's warm, and a seat in the sun with a book may win out over gardening or ironing!
