Day 4: Valley of the Gods to Castle Valley, Moab Utah

Another great breakfast at the Valley of the Gods B&B and then a ride up the steep twisting road that goes from the valley to Cedar Mesa above.   Here the scenery changes.  The rock colour is less red and there are small pine trees dotted all over the landscape.

We drove to Natural Bridges National Monument and stopped off at various places on the drive round the park to walk to overlooks and admire the work of water on the rocks.

Then on towards Moab, stopping at Blanding where we got very good coffee in an Indian Trading Post and remarked on the badge on the front of a battered pick-up!

We had lunch in a hippy Peace Tree Cafe and then drove through Moab to Castle Valley Bed and Breakfast.  It's a very pretty setting in a green valley with an orchard, wooden cabins, gardens, outside seating and a hot tub.  The surrounding area is cowboy filming country as the ranch restaurant where we ate described in great detail.   Bob and Peter's steaks were good, but Mary and I were underwhelmed by our fish.
