Downton Abbey

Having successfully worked the TV to record the series, I sat down last night and this afternoon to watch the two back to back opening episodes.  I suppose if you drag out a costume drama such as this, cracks will appear.  There are lot of rather heavy handed references to 'changing times' and 'modernity', to point out the passage of time.  Yes, we get it! But the biggest disappointment for me is the silly business with the footman...the creepy one...can't remember his name...who goes around trying to get everyone else into trouble.   Surely it's time he got his just desserts and was thrown out.  And can the toffs be so numbingly thick that they don't know what game he's playing?  That particular theme has become tedious.  In my humble opinion!
